In considering the multi-faceted nature of APD, it is often quite a challenge to differentiate between problems potentially stemming from APD vs. In fact, in a recent study, 94% of children with APD were shown to also have a language and/or reading disorder (Sharma, Purdy & Kelly, 2009). Dyslexia is likely the most common co-diagnosis with APD. Children with this disorder are often diagnosed as having multiple challenges, including (but not limited to) Attention Deficit Disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADD-Inattentive Type or ADHD), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), or Autism / Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is not uncommon that, in addition to these primary symptoms of APD, these individuals may have considerable difficulties with mood, social skills, and behavior. However, these are not an all-inclusive list and it should be noted that they do not take the secondary symptoms into account. The above symptoms are some of the most common primary symptoms of APD. Other Symptoms of APD The “Fallout” of APD This is often known as “amblyaudia” or “lazy ear” or a “right-ear advantage,” a common finding in children with developmental delays or learning differences, as the right ear is better connected to the language area of the brain. Many children with APD present with one ear performing considerably better than the other. APD is sometimes referred to as Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) due to the brain’s involvement, and is thought to be a possible cause of language-related learning difficulties in children around the world. APD is a condition in which individuals struggle to understand what they hear, despite normal or near normal hearing of soft sounds. It has been estimated that at least 2-3% of children may have Auditory Processing Disorder (Chermak & Musiak, 1997). ![]() The generation who experiences historical trauma often remains silent about their experiences, even with their family members. More broadly, effects of trauma may range from the psychological, to familial, social, cultural, neurobiological and possibly genetic. Other legacies of trauma include colonialism, political violence, and migration-related stressors. Trauma begins in one generation stemming from factors such as war, political instability, and early exposure to violence, racism or structural inequities. Though Holocaust survivors and their children are the most widely studied and over the longest period of time, the collective traumas of other ethnic groups such as African Americans, Asian Americans, and Ukrainians are being studied as well. This includes collective trauma survivors and their descendants from studies of the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide, the second world war (WWII) internment of Japanese-Americans and the colonization of Indigenous peoples. Thus, much of the current literature on intergenerational trauma comes from qualitative data collected from specific ethnic groups. Įvans-Campbell (2008) studied multiple generations of American Indian communities, and differentiated personal trauma from intergenerational trauma as distressing or life-threatening events which members of a group with a shared social identity experience together and pass on to their descendants. Other intergenerational impacts included parent-child enmeshment, overprotective parenting, and ambivalent styles of attachment. A follow-up study conducted by Rowland-Klein & Dunlop (1998) found that children of Holocaust survivors exhibit symptoms of fear and mistrust, depressive mood, and guilt related to their personal unhappiness. al (1966) documented high rates of psychological distress among children of Holocaust survivors. One of the first studies on intergenerational trauma was when Rakoff et. Trauma gets passed down through behaviors in shared environments, specific language use, biological factors and genetic factors. Manifestations of intergenerational trauma can range from stress and anxiety disorders to learning disorders as well as communicative barriers leading to a lessened sense of trust and cohesiveness within the family dynamic. This type of trauma is often also referred to as collective trauma or historical trauma. This concept was first developed in 1966 to help explain years of generational challenges within families. Intergenerational trauma refers to the ways in which trauma experienced in one generation affects the health and well-being of descendants of future generations. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. The American Psychological Association defines trauma as an emotional response to a terrible event. We can use that information to filter only the grid cells in our data to see where population density exceeds this number. ![]() Research learns that the mean population density in the Netherlands per square km is 523 people. The total population for that cell is listed in the TOT_P_2018 field. If you open the attribute table of the resulting feature class created in Step 2 with the Clip tool, you will see that each cell is 1 x 1 km (area field). To map the population density of the entire country, we now have everything we need: a dataset of grid cells covering the entire country. STEP 3: Make a sub-selection of the current dataset Deselect the JRC_POPULATION_2018 feature class in the Contents pane. The output feature class contains only the population density grid cells for Holland. For the output feature class name, type “Population per sq/km in Holland”. Next, apply the Clip tool using the JRC_POPULATION_2018 file as input feature dataset and the Holland polygon as Clip features. Name it “Holland” and deselect the ne_10m_admin_0_countries.shp in the contents pane. Next, choose the Select Geoprocessing tool and run it to create a new feature class of that selected feature. To do this, you can draw a rectangle on the map using the Select tool in the Map menu on the ribbon interface. This is why we’ll make a selection of the data and analyze this: we’ll pick The Netherlands and only analyze data for this country. The EUROSTAT shapefile contains more than 2 million rows and is quite large. Do the same for the Natural Earth quick start kit, which has polygon files for each country in the world. Refer to the PDF inside the data folder for an explanation of what the data represents. Download the file here and unzip to a local file folder. The EUROSTAT organization offers a shapefile containing population data for the whole European Union in grid sizes of 1 x 1km. This method of classification is common in mapping population density because it finds natural breaks in datasets by minimizing variance within groups and maximizing variance between groups, allowing you to easily visualize differences in population density throughout a specific region. In this tutorial, we’ll use population density data from the European Union to map population density values using the Natural Breaks (Jenks) method of classification. ArcGIS Pro offers some powerful functionality to map population density. ![]() ![]() ![]() Many moms love to let their toddlers get creative with crafts, cutting, gluing, etc… and the great news is that there are plenty of free printable activities for 2-year-olds available online. FAQs about cloning Mac hard drive to an external SSD Clone Mac hard drive to an external SSD using AweClone for Mac What are the requirements for a Backup hard drive? However, I was unable to find any documentation on how to pull the SRAM data or if it was even accessible from the GameShark. The first thing that I tried was dumping the SRAM by using the GameShark. I contacted Interact and they were unable to provide me with information on the algorithm the GameShark used. Having no idea how it was compressed, I thought I was out of luck. This was useless to me unless I want to use the GameShark to transfer it back to the cartridge. ![]() So GameShark compressed it before copying it to the memory pack. That is because I later found out that the SRAM save format was too large for the GameShark to transfer. The only save that I had an issue with was Zelda Ocarina of Time. I simply grafted over the matching bytes from the DexDrive save into the existing save files in my hex editor, loaded them up in my Project 64 emulator, and everything worked without a hitch. I took known game save copies from the internet for each of my EEPROM games and matched them up to my DexDrive save contents. Each one of the save files was structured in a different way. When examined with a hex editor, I noticed that each file was still there and all I had to do was cut out the bytes that made up the file container. But each save file was wrapped inside a proprietary container. Once I transferred every game over to the memory pack, I used my Nintendo 64 DexDrive (Pictured below) to move the save files onto my computer. To transfer the EEPROM games, I used a GameShark (I chose v3.2) to transfer the save from my cartridge to the memory pack. I used kodewerx’s Hacking N64 wiki to know what addresses and offsets for the RAM and ROM space I needed. It also allowed me to dump my ram, but that is coming later. This program allowed me to back up each of my games for later use in my project. (Others have tried using GameShark’s software, but it has been problematic.
